Debi Jackson Travel Fund for WPATH-Amsterdam
Organized by: Debi Jackson
I am booked!
May 26, 2016
I've been invited to be part of a panel at the bi-annual WPATH Symposium in Amsterdam this June. WPATH is the World Professional Society for Transgender Health and its mission is to promote evidence based care, education, research, advocacy, public policy, and respect in transgender health. My panel is "Raising Gender Expansive Children and Youth — Clinical and Personal Realities." I was asked to join this panel to offer a parent's perspective on the medical and psychological needs of very young to teenage transgender youth.
I need your help to cover the travel expenses! I don't get paid to travel and speak to various groups and organizations. Each time I hit the road, I lose money. But this is one trip I can't afford on my own. I've set the goal based on current airfare costs and the estimates of what they will be when/if I finally have the funds to purchase a ticket, a couple of nights in a hotel, and the symposia's registration fee. If I do not raise enough money to attend the WPATH event, I will use the money to cover costs of traveling to other conferences and speaking engagements this year. There are several I haven't scheduled yet because of the expense, so one way or another, any contributions will be put to good use speaking out for trans families.
I love being able to be a voice for trans kids.
I love being able to be a voice for other parents.
Please help me get to Amsterdam so the policy makers can hear our personal stories.
