BENEFITING: Indiana Undocumented Youth Alliance Inc
Today, the Trump administration ended DACA, a program which many young undocumented people relied on to work, to go to school, to drive legally, and more. Ending DACA means undocumented people will lose their work permits and will live once again under the threat of deportation. For undocumented students in Indiana, the end of DACA makes their dreams of higher education even more difficult to obtain. In 2011, the Indiana General Assembly passed HB1402 and SB590. These bills require undocumented students living in Indiana to pay out-of-state tuition and leave them ineligible for state financial aid, including merit- and service-based scholarships. At Indiana University Bloomington (IUB), tuition costs more than triple for undocumented students, leaping from $10,534 for Indiana residents to $34,846 for non-residents in an academic year. The money you donate will be used to provide scholarships for undocumented students throughout Indiana. In dire circumstances, some of the funds will be used to support families in imminent risk of deportation.
