The week before Christmas, my mom was diagnosed with colon cancer. She is such a caring and loving mother and means the world to us. We have been apart, living in different continents, for the last 13 years so my sister and I can pursue our professional goals. She has supported us unconditionally through that journey, both emotionally and financially, sending every penny she earns to the US to pay for our education and training. It is our turn now but we need your help!
My mom is receiving treatment in the US but as a non-US citizen, she has only traveler's insurance and does not qualify for any financial assistance from hospitals. We are asked to pay more than what insurance companies would be charged in general (retail price, without any discounts) and up front. It is very unfortunate that even though my sister is a physician in training, she cannot afford to treat her mother in the hospital where she treats other patients.
We have been asked to pay up front for 6 months of chemotherapy before we can start it and that is only part of the treatment my mom needs. As you can imagine, this is prohibitively expensive and my family and I desperately need your help. Please consider donating towards my mom's lifesaving chemotherapy treatment either through this website or by mailing checks to 1000 Shadow Glen Court, Apt. 304, Pittsburgh, PA 15090, made payable to Mariya Apostolova.
Thank you for your support and Happy Holidays!
