Del's Care Fund
Organized by: Nichole Peterson
We received the following message from Heather this morning (Jan 30):
Last night, we came back to the house and played some games. We laughed until we cried, it was so good. Minus just two, the entire immediate family was here. Dad would have loved it. Yesterday Dad had about 6 hours of intravenous chemotherapy. Today he will have three and tomorrow another three. Then we wait. They say his hair will start to fall out in a couple of weeks. We know he is going to be so upset, he is pretty proud of his hair. Another round is scheduled in three weeks. Today a procedure is scheduled to go in and drain the fluid from his lung. There will be daily chest xrays to see if the mass is shrinking, but it will be weeks before we know. Thank you everyone for the continued love, prayer and support.
For those who would like to send anything to the family, please use the following address: 4400 NW 8th Street, Coconut Creek, FL 33066.
Del is unable to receive deliveries at the hospital, but he is being cared for at Northwest Medical Center 2801 FL-7, Margate, FL 33063.
We received the following update today (Jan 28th) from Heather:
We have found out he has a very aggressive small cell lung cancer. We are starting chemo tomorrow in hopes that it will shrink the tumor enough that he can breath on his own again. The doctors said there was a 70% chance it will be successful. Being who he is, we felt those odds were decent. Still many unknowns, but wanted to keep you up to date.
The doctors have asked that everyone refrain from visiting Del for the next two weeks while he undergoes the chemo considering he will be sedated for the duration of the treatment.
As many of you know, Del went to the doctor on Tuesday and was unable to breath and/or talk. He was immediately admitted to the hospital and was sedated and put on a breathing machine due a collapsed lung. The doctors found a mass on his lung and a biopsy was preformed. We have yet to learn the results.
We have setup a Crowdrise account to accept donations on behalf of Del and his family to help towards medical expenses. All proceeds will go towards the cause. Please donate what you can and continue to pray for Del and his family.
