Delta Chi's Marco Madness
Team Member: Ethan Tuckman
I'd like to take this opportunity to announce the Delta Chi Chapter of Michigan's primary philanthropy event: Marco Madness, tipping off on January 29th at 1 PM.
What's Marco Madness?
Marco Madness is a 5 on 5 bracket-style basketball tournament at Crisler Arena, home of the Michigan Wolverine basketball team. The proceeds from the fundraiser will go towards treating pediatric leukemia through the Children’s National Medical Center in Washington D.C.
Children’s National is currently the only health system designed for kids in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area. With your help and donations, we can help fund the fight against pediatric leukemia.
This tournament honors Marco Gutierrez, a sophomore at the University of Michigan, who was forced to return home after only a month and a half into his freshmen year due to the remission of his Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Marco courageously fought through treatment of A.L.L. for three years of his life in high school prior to coming to Michigan.
This past year Marco took on the long and challenging fight of defeating his cancer once again. From the start, Marco took this terrible and heartbreaking disease by the horns when it returned.
Through his remarkable courage, perseverance, and determination to return to Michigan, he defeated the cancer again. We are grateful and proud to have Marco back at school. His selfless and loving personality, and his courageous fight serve as major inspirations to us all. The fight against cancer never goes away, and is a constant battle for too many children. Nobody should have to suffer from such a terrible disease or not be able to receive the proper treatment that they need to battle cancer, especially at such a young age. Please join us in or support of Marco, and our continued efforts to defeat this disease.
No amount is too little, every dollar truly makes a difference.
