Democracy Spring: New England Student Coalition
Organized by: Ches Gundrum
EVENT DATE Apr 16, 2016
From April 16th-18th, a broad coalition of 170 different organizations representing labor, peace, environmental, student, racial justice, civil rights, and money in politics reform movements with the backing of THOUSANDS OF CITIZENS will participate in non-violent direct action in DC to DEMAND action to create a DEMOCRACY "of, by and for the people."
"We will hold accountable the members of Congress who have blocked progress on democracy reforms. And we will demand an end to a system dominated by corporations and the wealthy, a system that prevents our country from addressing its greatest challenges – from inequality to climate change, from providing health care to all to ensuring everyone is paid a living wage."
DOZENS of colleges and universities in New England have formed a coalition in order to mobilize as many students as possible for 3 DAYS of demonstrations, teach-ins, sit-ins, direct action trainings, music, and rallies in DC this April.
This is going to be the LARGEST MOBILIZATION around ELECTORAL ETHICS and CORRUPTION in POLITICS of the 21ST CENTURY.
But, we can't do it alone. In order to get NE students to and from DC, we need your help. No donation is too small! ALL proceeds will go towards our transportation costs (bus rental, driver fees, gas, tolls etc.).
This is it. This is our fight... and we're ready to do something about it.
