This year will be my first marathon. The NYC marathon is something I used to watch with my whole family, trekking out from Queens to meet my dad at the finish line. I remember the hearing about him training as a kid, and seeing all the photos he stopped to take with a disposible camera along the way in the mid 90's. This year I am also turning 30 and decided that this is my year to run - call it a 30th birthday goal.
And if I am going to run 26.219 miles why not do it for a good cause? Robin Hood is a great organization that fights poverty in numerous ways across the city. Robin Hood is NYC's largest poverty fighting organization that funds and supports 200 other community partners in the city (you can check out the list online). All administrative costs are covered, which means every $ raised goes right back out the door, and Robin Hood was a pioneer in creating a rigorous set of metrics to measure the success of its investments.
In a time of gross inequality, Robin Hood is needed more than ever. I run for Robin Hood and all those that rely on this incredible organization.
Thank you for your kind and generous support.
