Denham Springs, Louisiana Flooding Victims 2016
Organized by: Terrilyn Milling
Rebuilding a strong foundation!
August 21, 2016
EVENT DATE Aug 15, 2016
UPDATE: When we first put up the page it didn't include a lot of details on the intended recipients because we wanted to start raising funds immediately but we hadn't yet been able to get in close touch with them (for obvious reasons). Now that we have been able to reach everyone, they have not only given their ok to share their information but are extremely grateful to anyone trying to help. Everything we are able to collect here will be given to
-- Terrilyn’s step-brother Scott, his wife Gretchen, and their three daughters and two dogs
-- Our very close friend Charlie, his retired mom and dad, and a whole host of dogs, cats, and other lovable pets
We also now have a lot more info on their situations now that the cleanup has begun. As you can see in the pictures here, in both cases it’s nearing a total loss-- furniture, appliances, cars, most of their belongings, walls-- right down to the frames of the houses. Everything will have to be replaced and rebuilt, and of course this will be at an overwhelming financial cost. FEMA aid is capped at 33K and past flooding payments have averaged 7.5K, so who knows what the thousands of applicants will receive and it’s clear they’ll need a lot more help.
We all REALLY appreciate the help everyone has given here so far and want to raise as much as possible to help our family and friends start replacing everything that was lost. THANK YOU!!!!
Hello, my name is Terrilyn Milling. I am reaching out to ask for your support in raising funds to help my loved ones in Denham Springs, Louisiana affected by the recent devastating flooding. Unfortunately, most of those that lost everything from the water damage did not have flood insurance. Several feet of water still fill many homes and returning to their homes is not an option. The affected areas have an unfathomable amount of devastation, and repairing the damage and rebuilding is going to be a long, overwhelming process and a huge financial burden. I am starting this fund because I have multiple family members and close friends who are facing damage up to the total loss of their homes, vehicles, and most of their possessions. I'm not posting everyone's personal information or stories here for privacy and because I know so many people impacted that I don't want to limit it. When I get more information/photos I will update the page. All contributions will be given to as many affected loved ones as I can. The road to recovery is just beginning and we greatly appreciate your support to start the process.
