BENEFITING: United Cerebral Palsy, Inc.
If you knew Dennis Patrick Robertson he changed your life. Living with Cerebral Palsy, Dennis graduated from college, pursued his love for writing, and most importantly volunteered his time at an elementary school. I'm still not sure who benefited more, the young students, or the faculty and parents. It was no easy task relying on caretakers and family for most of life's tasks that we all take for granted. I rarely saw Dennis without a huge smile on his face, and luckily for me, I saw that smile a lot. Giving in or giving up was never an option for Dennis, whose will and strength wouldn't allow it. I read a piece that he had written that changed the way I think about life. He wrote about one of the things he wished he could do, and it still gets me today. He simply wanted to get in a car, pick up a girl, and go on a date. Something that seems trivial for most, was a dream for him, but Denny, you were a dream to all of us. We miss you Denny Pat, you changed all of our lives. :)
