Let’s give Indira something to smile about!
Indira came into the foster care system as an infant. She was removed after her brother died and an investigation determined the death was due to Battered Child Syndrome. Indira went to a temporary foster home but was eventually placed with a caregiver, where she has remained since. The caregiver is loving and supportive, and Indira has grown into a wonderful, soft-spoken, kind, gentle, and intelligent young woman. Unfortunately, due to headaches and nausea from Indira’s dental problem she has begun to struggle a bit over the last several months of school even though she had been an exceptional student. Indira has another dental appointment on July 19th to further evaluate the seriousness of her dental problem. The situation is concerning because the dentist said that at Indira’s last appointment, the silver fillings were both decaying and leaking which is causing the headaches and nausea that Indira is experiencing. The toxicity of the decaying teeth is alarming and her worker is trying to help Indira and her caregiver find funding for this necessary dental procedure.
Finances for the caregiver are very tight and it would be impossible for them to afford the dental sealant replacements that Indira needs. Denti-cal will cover a small portion but unfortunately did not approve the entire amount. The caregiver has tried to find additional funding through the Health and Human Services agency but they too denied the request.
Indira would be very appreciative if she received some support with her dental issue. She deserves to have a healthy, beautiful smile.
