Dental Mission in DR March 2016
Organized by: Astrid Hidalgo
Hello family and friends! As many of you may know for the past 7 years I have been participating in a Medical/ Dental Mission. I feel very blessed to be able to go for a week to under served areas of the Dominican Republic to provide much needed dental services and oral health education to children, adults and elders along with a great team of Dentists, Oral Surgeons and other Dental Hygienists. Our mission and our task has grown stronger as we see more and more the devastating need of basic oral health care. Every year I take tooth brushes, floss and toothpaste to give out to my patients. This year I need to bring instruments ,sterilizing agents and oral health education materials in addition to the previous mentioned. All of these materials need to be brought in as additional luggage and are heavy and bulky in size. I am very passionate about my career and my volunteer work because I believe all health starts through the mouth. The task is 6 days long and runs from 7 am to 7 pm as people come in masses from far away places. Some come by foot or hitch hiking most of the way. It would be of great help if you could help me fund the basic tools for me to be able to see the most patients possible in this limited time and be able to help those less fortunate. We will also be visiting an all female orphanage and I will be bringing much needed underwear and socks to these young girls. In previous years many of you have asked if I needed any help and mentioned how you would like to add to my efforts. I really appreciate any and all of the help I can get for this cause that I am so passionate about. Thank you in advance and may God bless you and multiply your generosity!
