BENEFITING: GEORGE EASTMAN MUSEUM
EVENT DATE: Oct 14, 2017
Sometimes it is time for an upgrade, and this year Cindy Sherman’s Untitled #85 from her series Centerfold is ready for a new frame. When we acquired it back in 1983 framing practices were different, and our industry has learned a lot in the last 30 years. At 24 x 48 inches, the print is oversized, and the frame requires special features like a strainer to make it safe for shipping, exhibition, and long-term storage. It is also not a standard size, so a frame made just for this photograph needs to be ordered. Please help us preserve this rare and important photograph by donating to our team.
The Department of Photography is charged with the care of over 400,000 photographs! We create access to these objects through exhibitions, publications, and catalog records, which are now accessible online. We assist researchers studying our collection objects and lend objects to other institutions for many exhibitions each year. And, above all, we help others to learn about the history of photography during school visits, online with our process videos, and through our joint master's program with the University of Rochester.
