THE STORY:

ALL WAYS UP FOUNDATION wrote -

Pearlman Foundation Scholarship benifits my educational goals because it will help me pay for my college semesters, meaning it will be a stepping stone to my future career. I am from the City of Inglewood a city of creative hearts and talented minds. I was born and raised at the boarder of Inglewood, and Los Angeles California, and lived in a once active neighborhood. It was a neighborhood like none other. My family lived in one house, it was my mom, grandmother and my two gullible aunties, who were still in high school, and I. I came from a smart, and Christian family, I was naturally smart, talented and never really stopped thinking. My grandmother took us to church all the time. I have been blessed to have a happy , and positive family. I was raised by my mother and grandmother. My grandmother took over the roll of my absent father. My mother dropped out of college to raise  me.   In 2009, my grandmother passed away, which left a huge gap in our family. I still remember singing for her every Sunday morning , because it always made her smile. As I mentioned before, my father was absent. He abandoned me at the age of five and came back into my life in 2009, and  disappeared again in 2010. I do not have a relationship with my father, and what I have learned is that he is an alcoholic. My mother was my sole provider, and worked really hard to take care of me ,while my father laid back and did nothing to provide for his son. She was blessed to have a good paying job, but was laid off in 2009. This is when my story changes completely, because my mother  lost her job as well as losing her mother. My mother continued to do her best. She taught me to stay away from the gangs, focus on school, and to do well in school. In 2011, we lost our home to foreclosure, and was unsure where we were going to live. My mother was working at this time, but wasn’t making half the amount of money she made before. During this time, we kept our faith, continued to pray and went to Church every Sunday. In 2012, a friend of the family gave my mother money to help us move into an apartment. Even though we suffered so many loses it taught me to become a responsible, hardworking, independent young man. I also was given the opportunity to Intern with BET, which is the Black Entertainment Television, which encouraged me to become a screen play writer, and actor. I have taken the opportunity to intern at AEG, which is Anschutz Entertainment Group. That experience is what influenced me to strive for my dreams. Interning at these highly known places, and knowing how much money is earned working for these places influenced me to become to Businessman. I have started my own business infashion by making shirts representing the name and symbol of my company. During my experiences, I have become determined, hardworking and a competitive. I want to aim for the stars, and I am determined to become a successful, productive law abiding citizen.  I want to go to college because I want to be successful, and I know that a higher education is the start to a bright and successful life. Obtaining my degree in Business will help me become the person I dream of becoming.
