THE STORY:

ALL WAYS UP FOUNDATION wrote -

The Perlman Foundation Scholarship would be very beneficial to me and the pursuit of my educational goals after graduation from high school.  Being awarded this scholarship would be a great stress reliever by allowing me to secure a portion of my financial aid needs. This will prevent me from having excessive loan repayments upon graduation.  My work ethic would be impeccable and I'd continue to be a hardworking student to earn more scholarships throughout my four years of college.   Before my existence in this world, my mother had already received her bachelor's degree from North Carolina Central University. With the degree she received, it allowed her to secure a stable job to take care of me once I was born.  We weren't rich but we were living fine and my mother provided everything I needed and more. Growing up as a child, I watched my mom raise and take care of me alone until age 7. Times weren't always easy but we persevered.  My mother later married and birthed my soon to be 8 year old little brother.  Both my parents have college degrees, maintain a steady household together, and they're the reason I want to pursue higher education. Obtaining their degrees allowed them to acquire decent paying jobs, be financially capable of taking care of our family, and inspired me to want the same thing in the future.  When it comes to personal experiences, I've overcome three major obstacles that I encountered over the past four to five years. The three obstacles that I have encountered are procrastination, time management and studying. They are significant because without executing the three properly, the good grades I made throughout high school wouldn't exist.  I developed better study habits and better organization.  I began using the calendar on my smart phone by setting reminders for my assignments. I know that I will be successful as long as I continue to study, not procrastinate, and manage my time wise.   I feel I'm the most unique and hardworking young person in my family. I value my worth ethic and see myself being very successful in life. I have learned that I work best under pressure because it motivates me to achieve whatever goal I'm trying to reach. I have a great personality and I am very comfortable being uniquely me.  There aren't too many people in this world that can take this stance and not be influenced by others to change.  I am my own person and seek to be a leader and a role model.  I know that I will be successful as long as I stay true to myself. I will remain determined and dedicated to attaining my goals beginning with graduation from high school and pursuing my college education.
