When a passion for humanitarian design took Kelsey to Cameroon, by herself, to meet with a community that needed classrooms for the secondary school, she realized the need for design to improve the lives of millions around the world who don’t have access to it. A year after the trip and hundreds of hours designing new classrooms for the village she visited, Kelsey founded Design Cause Inc. This For-Purpose organization brings design to communities in need to help them address infrastructural needs. Our first project is a series of newly designed classrooms that have taken two and a half years to design. Design Cause is so excited to be finally inviting others to get involved in this exciting project!
The new classrooms have proper ventilation and are made of cooler building materials that will make the classrooms comfortable even in the routine 110F temperatures. The design uses local sustainable materials, creates shaded exterior gathering spaces, and is less expensive than the government classrooms. The children in this community fully understand that a secondary school education will pull them out of poverty and are fully committed to finishing their studies, but they need more classrooms in order to continue at school.
Please consider ‘Joining the Cause’ and becoming a part of bringing design and education to a community that desperately needs it!
