Destin-y After Dark
Organized by: Destin-y Easy 3
EVENT DATE Aug 27, 2015
This all started because of Tasha. She moved her family and business to Destin believing they could all flourish here. As it turns out, she ended up needing 2 more jobs, just to survive. 3 jobs and 3 kids left her no time, energy or money to really focus on the one thing that would allow her life to grow and thrive, which is her business.
When you live paycheck to paycheck just one week off can destroy that delicate financial balancing act. Which Tasha experienced when a surprise attack of diverticulitis resulted in an unexpected hospital stay and surgery. With no income, and not able to return to work any time soon, our friend was in trouble.
We decided to do something about that. Sure we could raise 3K…Easy. Yes, that would maybe take care of 3 bills for 3 months. However, even then Tasha could still be stuck right where she was pre- 3K donation. We decided instead of making a short term stopgap, we could create a long term solution.
The question became, “What can we do to create an effective way to contribute to our community?” Instead of a quick 3 thousand dollars, The Easy 3 became the tenets of a scholarship program designed to support women-owned businesses on the Gulf Coast. The Destin-y Easy 3
Our approach and offering is based on the following 3 tenets;
The purpose of this undertaking is to change the health of our communities from just surviving to thriving. Keeping in mind what initiated this movement, we know this change can occur through the empowerment, and subsequent growth, of local businesses.
Our initial target is women who have, not just dreams and ideas for a business, but an existing business that just needs their time, intention and attention in order to flourish.
