Detroit Change is dedicated to the construction of a positive identity for Detroit, Michigan. While local newspapers and reporters saturate Detroit media with negative depictions of our city, we believe scholarly achievements should be recognized and upheld as the standard in Detroit. In order to combat the negativity that continues to manifest in the city, Detroit Change will actively seek to promote the positive accomplishments of Detroiters of all ages.
Detroit Change is dedicated to the promotion of scholarly achievements of Detroiters. We seek to recognize students of all ages for their academic achievement therefore we ask parents, mentors, and teachers to recommend students who are deserving of recognition for our Student of the Month.
Detroit Change is actively involved in combating poverty and homelessness in Detroit. Events sponsored by Detroit Chage will include food drives, clothing donations, school supply kits for students, and various community outreach initiatives.
Detroit Change seeks to bridge the gap between City leadership and Detroit residents. We firmly believe that holding Detroit leadership (i.e. City Council, Mayor Duggan, and Detroit Police Chief) accountable will improve the quality of life for Detroiters. In order to increase political activism, Detroit Change will host unbiased political forums for all candidates in a local election.
In addition to recognizing students, Detroit Change seeks to facilitate networking among professionals by highlighting the work of young Detroit scholars. Young lawyers, businessmen/women, professors, researchers, etc are encouraged to provide information on their professional endeavors.
