Dear Supporters,

This August, we will embark on a 10-day volunteer trip with Habitat for Humanity to Cape Town, South Africa. We will sweat and smile side-by-side local workers and our host family, building a home and hope with every brick laid.

We are thrilled to travel to a new country, immerse ourselves intimately within its culture, learn about its complicated history with those that have lived and shaped it firsthand, and utilize our blessings to give a family a hand up, not a hand out, for a better future. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to make a difference uniting as co-workers, and we couldn’t do it without you!

We need your help to make a difference.

No matter how small or large, your donation makes a BIG impact.

If you're interested in learning more and/or joining the team, contact habitatGVbuilds@gmail.com.

Thank you for helping us make a difference!

About Habitat for Humanity South Africa

The crowded, impoverished conditions of South Africa’s urban townships have been well documented over the years. Conditions have improved since racial apartheid came to an end in South Africa in the 1990s, but change has not come rapidly enough to many urban settings.

The township of Mfuleni is a prime example. In an area developed to hold a population of 7,000, more than 25,000 people are crammed into substandard housing units. Most of this increase is due to families who fled recent flooding that washed through surrounding townships.

On the eastern bank of South Africa’s Eerste River near Cape Town:
· 47% of the population lives in poverty housing
· 57% of people age 15-65 are unemployed
· 69% have no piped water
· 47% have no bathroom facilities
