Dear Friends and Family,
As I turn 28 this year, I invite you to help me fulfill my birthday wish: Please join me in supporting inner-city youth through DSY, an innovative program that seeks to invest in their future through professional development, training and mentorship.
Any and every token of your generosity would mean a great deal to me. My admittedly audacious goal is to raise $1K for youth in the cities such as New York, Chicago and San Francisco, but with your help, I am confident I can meet it. What's more, a friend (who prefers to remain anonymous) has even offered to match $500 if we hit the $1K goal by the end of this week!
I've provided more context below, and I hope you will consider celebrating my birthday with me this year as follows.
Last year, I left my family's business to seek a career in energy in SF. Despite the many resources with which I've been blessed (e.g., education and network), I struggled to find the right job for months. Luckily, with the support of friends and family like you, I eventually found a position at PG&E.
I was reminded of how difficult the job search process can be, and that's why I am deeply passionate about the work of All Star Project's Development School for Youth (DSY), which collaborates with corporations to provide leadership and professional training for inner-city youth. In fact, my own department at PG&E will be hosting a DSY intern this summer.
All that's to say, in lieu of cards, presents or wishes, I would love for you to partner with me in supporting youth like Biola, a Brooklyn native who balances taking classes with working evenings and weekends to fulfill her dream.
Thank you in advance for your consideration and generosity--and for celebrating my birthday with me in this new way!
