THE STORY:

My stepdaughter Devyn Burton lost her battle to Loeys-Dietz Syndrome on July 24, 2016. She made a heroic effort to live and this world will never be the same without her. She was a lovely, sweet young woman who inspired so many people and changed so many people’s lives teaching us about loyalty, integrity and character. It has been said that LDS doesn’t give you character, rather it reveals it; and our Devyn truly had remarkable character. She was very brave and never backed down from a surgery or treatment that she needed to have, no matter how terrifying or painful it was. Devyn was so positive and always had a wonderfully bright attitude. I always told her that she was the strongest person I knew and that I admired her so. That stands true today regardless of how lost and empty with disbelief she left us. I am participating in a 5k Jingle Bell Run with my local YMCA for Move Your Feet For Loeys Dietz on Saturday, December 3 in her honor. Please help me raise awareness and funds for the Loeys-Dietz Foundation. LDSF is dedicated to: • encouraging education about Loeys-Dietz syndrome and related connective tissue disorders to medical professionals and lay communities in order to aid in identification, diagnosis, and treatment of Loeys-Dietz syndrome • fostering research about Loeys-Dietz syndrome • providing a support network for individuals, parents, and families affected by Loeys-Dietz syndrome. All donations made to Devyn’s Move Your Feet For Loeys-Dietz will help support the LDSF mission. In 2014 Devyn said “Even though it hurts, never stop yourself from living.” That is what we are holding on to and it is our duty to honor and celebrate her life by living our lives as fully, happily and positively as possible. She would have wanted that for everyone and we will do just that. So please join me in honoring and celebrating our LDS Warrior Angel Devyn Nycole Burton.
