BENEFITING: Camp Good Days & Special Times, Inc.
EVENT DATE: Nov 08, 2015
I have worked with kids for the last seven years of my life and I can confidently assure you that nothing means more to me then making a little kid smile. Camp Good Days and Special Times provides a bunch of amazing opportunities for kids of all different backgrounds. But I can tell you, the most rewarding weeks of my life were when I volunteered with foster care children who attended camp. There is nothing more incredible in this universe than the innocence, magic, and brilliance of a young child. Some children are forced to "grow up" before their time, forced to make difficult decisions, face sickness and death at an early age, and even take care of younger siblings while they are still young themselves. Sharing endless ice creams, laughs and just general "no stress" fun with them changed me for the better - and for good. I honestly wish there was more that I could do for each one of these kids that feel that nobody in the world loves them, because I love them. Each mile will be dedicated to a different one of my past kiddos (whose names I won't be sharing - for obvious reasons). Please help me reach my goal in order to show these kids that they are not now, nor will they ever be, truly alone. Please consider researching Foster Care and Adoption within the Untied States - as many of our own children here in our very own nation need help. Also, please consider ignoring that I am running this marathon in a different country - it is only because I don't want anyone to see the anguish on my face as I reach my final few miles or see the disgusting amount of bread I will be ingesting afterwards ;-).
