BENEFITING: DREAMFAR HIGH SCHOOL MARATHON
ORGANIZER: DREAMFAR HIGH SCHOOL MARATHON
EVENT DATE: May 03, 2015
You may have heard that I'm running with Dreamfar High School Marathon this spring. Dreamfar is a small non-profit organization that brings adults and high school students from around Greater Boston together to train for the Providence Marathon on May 3rd. Using the power of the long run, Dreamfar provides the support and atmosphere needed to allow mentor-mentee relationships and friendships to form during training. They also make sure students have everything they need to train safely and successfully -- from nutrition tips to physical therapy access to obtaining proper shoes and hydration belts. Dreamfar is there for the students!
For those of you who run, you know how transformative running a marathon can be. For those of you who may not be into running (unless you're running away from a bear or after the bus), I am sure you can imagine the dedication and commitment it takes to run a marathon. It's been a rough winter out here, and these young students have shown their grit -- they show up for their long runs every Saturday morning and maneuver through snow banks and ice to get their miles in. All this, so they can achieve a goal I would never have thought would be possible when I was their age. I’m proud of these kids, and I’m proud to be part of this. Won't you donate to support Dreamfar as they continue to share the benefits of running with young people across the region? I hope you will!
