BENEFITING: Diabetes Foundation of Mississippi
EVENT DATE: Sep 17, 2016
In December 2015, I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes a day after turning 37 years old. I had routine blood work done and received a call that my glucose was over 300. I needed to go and see my general practitioner ASAP. I visited my doctor who gave me an A-1 C test. Sure enough I was diabetic. I was diagnosed initially as Type #2 . At that visit I learned about testing blood sugar and giving myself insulin. He scheduled me to visit the Diabetes Center in Ocean Springs after the New Year. After my visit to the Diabetes Center and having test run, it was determined I was Type 1. Diabetes has been a huge life changing event for my husband and I. Every day is a fight. I am determined to beat my diabetes and live a long life. I am also determined to share information with friends, family and anyone that will listen about diabetes and the importance of funding a cure. Phil and I are participating in this year's Diabetes Foundation Mississippi Walk for Diabetes on Saturday, September 17th at Jones Park in Gulfport. I would love your support in this year's event. Thank you!
