Organized by: John Franklin
EVENT DATE Dec 05, 2014
I am the grandson, nephew, son, brother and father of both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetics.
When I came up with the idea to chart complications for diabetics, I wanted to be able to compare and contrast others affected throughout the world...from Alberta to Zimbabwe. This idea morphed into diabetabase. We will go further by adding: gender, ethnicity, birth country, current age, age when diagnosed, history of diabetes within the family, latest A1c number etc.
In addition, we will be focusing on the complications: retinopathy, neuropathy, heart disease, kidney disease, circulatory disorders and on and on. We will be able to identify, document, and ultimately help those who suffer from diabetes.
This fundraiser is for the tool to make that happen. It is an interactive web based database that will be in 15-20 languages (no bing translations), totally anonymous, and yet people will be able to see specifically what other diabetics are enduring (input is either user based, or by a health care provider, depending on access to computer). It will be an ever growing, revolutionary resource that will assist in documentation, research, education, awareness and management of both Type1 and Type 2 diabetes globally.
My goal is to have diabetabase as the standard in every hospital, clinic and outreach center in every State, Province, Region and Territory of every Country throughout the World.
