We are participating in the Revlon, "Love is On" Challenge which will run until Thursday, October 29th, 2015. We need your donation now to help us continue our mission of directly helping diabetes patients and providing lifesaving medicine to them.
The Challenge is an online fundraising challenge to ignite the spirit of giving to the non-profit agencies supporting important health causes especially for diabetes, cancer and heart.
The organization that raises the most money will receive one million dollars from Revlon to further help their cause.
What is your donation going to be used for?
Diabetes Foundation, Inc. donations goes directly to provide an emergency 60 day supply of critical diabetes medication and supplies to residents that are uninsured or underinsured so they can stay compliant with their daily management of their diabetes care. We assist in finding long term permanant aid for their medication from other sources and continue to provide reassurance through our client support team.
What does DFI do?
Local doctors noticed a 'gap' in diabetes care for those uninsured or underinsured visiting clinics and hospitals or in transition.
Diabetes Foundation, Inc. was founded by medical professionals in 1990 as a 501 ( c ) ( 3 ) non-profit organization. We provide medicine, testing supplies, resources and reassurance for those residents with Type 1, Type 2, and gestational, assisting anyone from 2 years to 92 years of age.
We are the only agency in New Jersey providing emergency medication and supplies to those without resources or those awaiting long term assistance. We bridge the gap to long term assistance, where clients will get assistance from drug companies or other long term programs.
Does DFI offer ongoing client support and advocacy?
Yes, our trained patient support team personally connect with our clients to provide information, reassurance and resources as well as coaching self management strategies for living day to day with diabetes.
By providing guidance and sending information packets with educational literature and medication resources help them maintain their health through nutrition, exercise and self-management.
Does DFI sponsor community outreach programs?
Yes, DFI sponsors a 12 month Diabetes-Community Outreach Education Program in several communities, led by a Certified Diabetes Educator. The goal is to improve adherence to diet and exercise guidelines and diabetes medication self-management. It is held in a group setting in the community,also establishing a peer to peer support group. There is no cost for this class.
Does DFI plan health fair and attend community events?
Yes, DFI is actively educating the public about diabetes prevention and the signs, symptoms and prevention of the disease. During Diabetes Awareness month in November, more than 30 programs are held throughout the state which include various free health screening and awareness information about this chronic disease.
