BENEFITING: TYPE 1 DIABETES INTERNATIONAL FOUNDATION
Game on! Welcome to our fundraising page! We are honored to be participating in the Revlon "Love is On" Challenge which will run September 21, 2015 at noon CST - October 29, 2015 at noon CST. This Challenge is an online fundraising challenge built to ignite the spirit of giving to important health causes such as diabetes, cancer, and heart disease. The organization that raises the most money will receive a ONE MILLION DOLLAR donation from Revlon to further help their cause.
What is the money going towards?
The Diabetes International Foundation is partnering with health clinics and pharmacies across the country to help support diabetes awareness; the symptoms, different types of diabetes and different treatments available. We are raising money to help screen for diabetes to quickly identify the disease and proactively implement treatment which will ultimately prevent or delay the onset of devastating complications related to this complicated disease. Diabetes is easy to ignore, especially in the early stages when you're feeling fine. Diabetes affects many major organs, including your heart, blood vessels, nerves, eyes, and kidneys. Early diagnosis and controlling your blood sugar levels can help prevent these complications. Many of the risk factors include lifestyle decisions and can be eliminated or reduced with time and effort. Age, excess weight (particularly around the waist), family history, physical activity, and poor diet are also significant risk factors for the illness.
Every donation makes a difference! With your support, we will raise funds for crucial education that otherwise would not be funded.
Everyone knows someone with Diabetes!
Did you know, according to the CDC, 29.1 million people in the United States have diabetes, 8.1 million of whom may be undiagnosed and unaware of their condition? The total cost of diagnosed diabetes has risen to $245 billion in 2012 from $174 billion in 2007, when the cost was last examined. This figure represents a 41 percent increase over a five year period and continues to rise each year with the increasing number of diagnosed individuals.
