You have seen the heartbreaking images on TV and social media. Hurricane Matthew has left a path of destruction in the tiny island nation of Haiti. Perhaps you have been moved to help but don't know how. Now is your opportunity to make a difference. My long time friend and Airline Ambassadors Humanitarian Missions Coordinator, Martine Longchamp is headed to the north and south regions of Haiti and she needs your help. Diakonos International, a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization, was founded by Martine, her sister Marie and late brother Wilfrid, who was killed in the Haiti earthquake. The children's home is named, Kominote Ti Fanmi Nou d Diakonos which means "Our small community of Family." Located in Carrefour Ayiti, Martine and her sister have a total of 17 children in their care. Their vision is to create a loving home environment where the most destitute and vulnerable children can live safely, learn, grow and develop into healthy, happy, educated and productive Haitian citizens. Private donations are the only source of income for this small non profit that is doing so much with so little. As you can imagine, the hurricane has had a devastating impact on the lives of the children entrusted in their care. An already damaged roof is at its breaking point. Damp walls and standing water create mold and other problems for the children. Food and water are difficult to come by. And the situation is even worse further south, where Martine will travel next week. In order to support this cause, we are asking for a monetary donation for the Diakonos Relief Fund. Everything matters. No overhead costs, no hefty salaries, Monies raised will go directly to those in need and will be used for the following - roof repair at the children's home - food - bottled water - medical supplies - construction supplies to build temporary homes for those who have been displaced - flashlights/battery - generators From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you in advance for your support. Should you have any additional questions, please feel free to email me at or call me at 954-649-2922 The United Nations secretary-general, Ban Ki-moon, has called for a “massive response” to help Haiti in the wake of Hurricane Matthew as local aid officials struggled to get food, medicine and water to increasingly desperate communities still isolated almost a week after the blow from the deadly storm.
