BENEFITING: Digital Divide Data
ORGANIZER: Digital Divide Data
EVENT DATE: Nov 30, 2015
As some of you may know, I have served Digital Divide as a Board member for 4+ years. Unlike the typical non-profit, we are building a successful "commercial" business (an outsourcing company focused on data services like digitization) around our social mission so that eventually, we no longer have to raise donation money from generous folks like you. We are closing in on our goal to "breakeven"...but today, I am asking for your help.
What do we do? In our core program we identify high-performing recent high school graduates with no obvious job prospects, and we give them jobs - clerical/data entry type of work from developed economies (companies like Microsoft, Cisco, Fossil, Harvard Press, etc.). At the same time, we pay for their 4-year bachelors degree. Our goal is to impact lifetime earnings potential as most of these intelligent young people would wind up in sweatshops without our intervention. In Kenya, Laos and Cambodia, our graduates earn incomes 4X greater than the average national wage. Digital Divide Data (DDD) offers an innovative approach to job training and education to help break the cycle of poverty.
Please help DDD continue its good work. From my field visits, I know firsthand that we are making an important impact in these countries and in the lives of the young people in our program.
As my friend, I know you will help in whatever way you can, but for some added motivation, I am committing to match your donation 1:1 up to $3000!
PLEASE DONATE TODAY - no amount is too small :)
$50: Monthly scholarship for one student
$500: Annual scholarship for one student
$1500: Full scholarship for one student to earn a Bachelor Degree
Thanking you in anticipation of your support,
