Being in the hair care industry, we know how important hair is to our client’s individuality and identity - not to mention their self-confidence. As stylists, we have also had the horrific experience of needing to cut the hair of a client about to undergo or already undergoing chemotherapy.
Manual cold caps designed to reduce hair loss from chemotherapy have been available to cancer patients in the U.S. for the past several years. I’m still perpetually amazed at how many clients are unaware of this. The good news is, that with the recent FDA Clearance of the automated DigniCap scalp cooling system for women with breast cancer, oncologists are finally getting onboard, awareness is beginning to grow and patient demand is really starting to take off.
But thankfully, many of our clients will be able to save their hair due to the relatively new use of scalp cooling, a treatment that can dramatically reduce hair loss during chemotherapy. Unfortunately, scalp cooling is not yet covered by most insurance plans, so many patients will not be able to afford it. That is why our salon is supporting HairToStay, the first and only national non profit dedicated to increasing access to scalp cooling for patients with financial need. diPietro Todd Salons has pledged 1% of our product sales to support the efforts of HairToStay
We are excited about being in on the ground floor of such an important industry initiative and we urge you to join us in helping to make this a hair care industry-wide commitment!
