THE STORY:

Hello Hidden Valley Lake members and residents.  I serve as a volunteer on the HVLA Board of Directors.  I am raising funds in response to an aggressive and illegal action the Board leadership has orchestrated against me.  This is a legal DEFENSE fund.  I am defending YOUR interests and NOT suing the HVL members or the Board as that would violate my fiduciary duty.

In a Clear Lines e-blast, HVLA management has misrepresented the facts and circumstances of this matter.  In rebuttal to the claim that this matters was conducted "in accordance with rules for due process" . . .  I received a letter from HVLA legal counsel on June 23rd advising me of a disciplinary hearing scheduled for June 25th.  Two days notice is due process?  Although the Association’s legal counsel advises me to retain legal counsel at my own expense to address this matter, they give me two days to arrange that?  Now that I have indeed retained legal counsel, the Association has publicly criticized me for doing so.  In actuality, the only reason I felt comfortable attending the meeting was because I received a letter from Herb Fish & Sky Pile which stated "The Board is very interested in meeting with you in person and attempting to work through their concerns in an amicable manner."  It was NOT amicable.  Two weeks later I received a letter from HVLAs legal counsel notifying me of a Resolution passed to form an Executive Committee which excludes only me, on the basis of an allegation that they did not even mention in the June 25th meeting.  That is fair and ethical?  They have falsely accused me of a wrong-doing; they have no evidence because the allegation never happened.  My appeal is to rescind the baseless resolution and get back to being a fully participating Board member.  And I need legal counsel to accomplish that . . .  because the Board leadership has excluded my participation in violation of the law.

Since this is a volunteer position, to which I have donated at least 1000 hours since I was elected, I am asking for your financial support to fund legal counsel expenses.

Be assured that I have attempted to resolve our differences through amicable discussion with my fellow Board members. The leadership has rebuffed my appeal and has opted for an adversarial approach. I am disappointed that this is the only avenue available to restore my ability to represent your interests. Your community governance is at stake. Please contribute any amount of $10 or more. Feel free to donate anonymously.

If more funds are raised than are needed to cover legal expenses, I will donate remaining funds to our local Lake County Hospice. Check back periodically to see where we’re at. Your contribution will help ensure that your Board is held accountable.  Thank you for your support.

The lows this Board and GM have gone to to publish in Clear Lines of Communications what was apparently a closed session discussion is unethical and illegal . Who writes and approves this stuff?? Susan Cameron is a hard working and dedicated Board member and deserves respect especially from her fellow Directors and certainly the GM. Removed two more postings of this from a bulletin board today - stop it to those of you doing this. 3 years ago
