More than one billion people in the world – one in seven – have a disability.
80% of people with disabilities live in developing countries, and there, make up 20% of the poorest of the poor, living on less than $1 a day.
DRF makes an impact on the lives of people with disabilities by empowering them to advocate for equal rights and full participation in society. Since our inception in 2008, the Fund and its sister fund, the Disability Rights Advocacy Fund have granted $10 million for rights advancement by DPOs across the developing world
With a focus on inclusion of marginalized sectors within the disability community and on grassroots and emergent organizations, DRF empowers a more diverse disability movement to advance rights for all.
