Disabled Sr Half Way To New Life/Home After Storm/Losses
Organized by: Laura Mackey
A mentally (early Alzheimer's) disabled senior citizen in Greater Washington DC/ MD area has lost the roof over her head due to downed trees and subsequent loss of lease. Since that time, she has made great strides towards affordable, accessible housing. The American Red Cross provided short hotel stay to enable time for volunteers to salvage her possessions to public storage. Her church has helped with finding caregiver(s) to help get her settled when she moves. Emergency temporary housing ends in 7 days; $3k of the goal will help in that time frame, securing housing. Moving household goods from storage, replacing lost clothing, would be next. This senior has only a small retirement income, with resources exhausted. As winter is here, there is little time to wait. Please know every donation greatly appreciated, and will help avoid potential homelessness. Any questions can be answered, with supporting references. After months of extreme hardship, any donations greatly appreciated. Blessings.
