Disabled Vet Seeks Help
Organized by: Colin Powers
My name is Colin. I am a disabled vet. In 2012 it was discovered i had a tumor in my skull pressing on my frontal lobe, causing migraines, vision loss and even a stroke. I have been out of the army seeking medical help since i was medically retired in 2013. Despite having disability from social security and medical retirement from the VA, i still barely make enough money to make it by month to month, having to constantly ask for help from family and friends. Last month I took a turn for the worse. Already having enough medical problems, i was mugged for my money and my debit card was subsequently stolen along with all the money in my bank account. It was all i had for the month. I have not been reimbursed yet for said missing money, but i should be expecting it back. I could not pay rent, my car, my insurance, my cell phone, or anything. Now i am behind on all my bills even after asking for help from my family. I have a girlfriend of 4 years and she has a son of 15 years old. She has no idea this has happened yet. I do not wish to trouble her mind with my problems. I normally do not complain when life deals me a bad hand, but life has consistantly dealt me a bad hand. I am still very sick, having very little money to pay for even gas to get to my medical appointments, now the VA and the government have taken a cut out again, and my checks have practically been cut in half. I cannot work due to my injuries. I have Severe depression, memory loss, vision loss, hearing loss, severe migraines, insomnia, anxiety and ptsd, along with having my tumor removed from my skull. I am asking for assistance because if this continues i will just be another homeless vet statistic. I will lose the love of my life. I will lose everything. I am not asking for a pity party, i am just being honest. Please help me.
