DISH's Bay to Breakers Fundraiser Update
May 10, 2017
Hello! This fundraiser is very near to my heart, as I lead the Trekkers each week and have formed close bonds with several of the tenants who are regular attenders.
Our trekkers who have been regularly walking since we launched in October have noticed many benefits - they get out of their building and into the sunshine more frequently, they are able to socialize with tenants from other DISH buildings and some have even lost weight! By consistently meeting with others, we are building community, one week at a time. I am immeasurably blessed by the conversations I get to have with these tenacious and spunky individuals. What a priviledge to help foster tenants as leaders! I learn more and more from them each week.
Whatever you can give will be very beneficial to the future of this program and other community building efforts. Thank you!

Help the DISH Breakers Team raise funds to support the DISH Trekkers – our first tenant walking club that meets once a week to walk their neighborhood blocks, learn about the health benefits of daily activity and build community.
In October of 2016 we piloted the first ever tenant focused walking group and called it the Boeddeker Trekkers. Tenants living in buildings close to the Tenderloin's Boeddeker Park met once a week to discuss the health benefits of walking, walk the talk, and finish with a meal.
Today we want to expand that program to include all tenants across our six sites - whether living in the TL or in the Mission, we want to support tenants looking to break out from isolation, join a healthy group and build community.
