Displaced families and children
Organized by: Sonja Mejia
Many families with children have been displaced living in hotels for years in Savannah Georgia do to the lack of assistance available in Chatham County, their credit score, eviction history or capital to move. Savannah offers nothing but salvation army which is very unsafe for these people who live check to check. The hotel Suburban Lodge is charging regular room fees for those who stayed through the storm with no cleaning no towels no lights nor air conditioning and they want a week's fee up front after Hurricane Mathew. These are people who could not work because of Mathew. Many of these people have been there well over a year trying to overcome the poverty income level. If they don't get the assistance they will be forced to be homeless with children. 5 families are at risk with many others who don't have children. These people work on a daily cash bases sometimes just getting enough to survive their over head.
