BENEFITING: LABRADOR RETRIEVER RESCUE OF FLORIDA INC
EVENT DATE: Jun 15, 2017
Cheryl Stine wrote -Can there be any Labrador Retriever Rescue of Florida (LRROF) District more challenging than the Panhandle? The collection of small towns and shelters scattered across this narrow spit of land in Florida that overlooks the Gulf of Mexico, is populated by various LRROF teams of people that are constantly facing transport issues as they try to match up dogs in need (which are numerous)with available foster homes (which are sparse). Yet, somehow, these tenacious rescuers make it work. Sometimes the effort involves teamwork with other rescues. Sometimes it's a solo journey. Almost always it involves coordination with other districts of LRROF in the state. Occasionally, the effort is on behalf of a dog just over the border in Alabama. Is it worth it? You bet. We have helped hundreds of beautiful dogs from the Panhandle, thanks to the diligence of our of volunteers. Today, dear friends and family, we are asking for donations. Typically these are monetary donations, and we certainly don't want to discourage those. But just for us, for this one area, we are asking you to consider donating your time, your home and your gas. Can you help evaluate shelter dogs and owner surrenders? If you don't know how, we can teach you. Can you open your home to a dog in need if we supply crates, bowls, collars and leashes? Can you assist with transport to a vet, to a foster or to another LRROF district? Can you spare a few hours in the evening to call prospective adopters? Can you give up a few hours of your time on a Saturday or Sunday to organize or assist at a meet 'n greet? We appreciate whatever you can do. If you can't do much, please consider donating the cost of one night of boarding for a dog that is waiting for a foster home to open up. Your generosity just might make it possible for us to save one more life. For that, we are indebted. Thank you for partnering with us to shoulder the burden of saving Lab lives.
