BENEFITING: PARKS 4 PAWS
An amazing new dog park was put up this year at Fuji Park in Carson City. It is completely fenced, has water for the dogs, play features, plenty of shade and seating, and is even close to the restrooms for the 2-legged users. However, due to lack of funds, it was opened with a terrible surface... dusty, gritty, dirt. The complaints about the dirt seem to be endless, but the surface material is only limited by funds available. So, as a member of the non-profit that worked very long and hard to get a beautiful and safe dog park built in Carson City... stop complaining and start fundraising!
There's so many ways you can help out. For example, I'm an avid runner, so I'm looking to find people who are willing to sponsor me for the number of miles I run. Not a runner? Offer to do yardwork, housework, etc in trade for a donation to the Ditch The Dirt cause. Any money donated here (or to Park4Paws with DitchTheDirt mentioned) will go specifically to getting a better ground surface. But be aware, the nicer the surface, the more fundraising needed. Grass not only is expensive to put in... it is expensive to maintain, especially in a dog park (think big yellow spots and digging paws!). Be sure to be vocal about what you want your fundraising money to go to!
Be active, better your community, and work for what you want to see done!
