Help Save DJ Dog!
Organized by: Elizabeth Herring
DJ Dog is an abandoned Pitbull mix. He is about 2 years old, and has signs of neglect and abuse including malnourishment, atrophied muscles, sores, and elongated feet due to too much time in confinement. Pitbull abuse and irresponsible care is rampant in New York, where dog fighting is very common. DJ was found tied a park fence at 9PM where the police had arrived to take him to the nearest pound. I walked by and asked if I could take him instead, knowing a couple friends who had been looking for dog. In the end he ended up sticking with me and my roommates, who have all agreed to take him in.
As students and recent college graduates, paying for DJ's life is going to be rewarding work. We have already found helpful services to ease the cost of rehabilitating a dog. Friends, neighbors, and free vaccine/neuter services from the ASPCA for Pitbulls have all proven to be indispensable. DJ is now in a good home with a yard and dog park around the corner, but as all New York residents know, It's difficult enough to pay rent every month.
We've outlined a year long budget to pay for DJ's expenses for the rest of 2015 and part of 2016. This Crowdrise is to help pay for additional vaccines, medication, food, extra care and any dog emergencies.
