EVENT DATE: Dec 04, 2011
While a half-marathon is admittedly not a 500km trek through the heart of the desert followed by a frost-bitten slog through the arctic circle, it is still a good 21kms to push through and for five people who spend the majority of their day seated, it's decent work. Cheesepants, Monty, McGrath, Tim and myself will be running the Angkor Wat Half Marathon (through the beautiful temples at Siem Reap) as a team in the hopes of raising money for The Hong Kong Refugee Advice Centre (HKRAC), the only dedicated provider of pro bono legal aid to refugees seeking protection from the United Nations HIgh Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Hong Kong. In addition to raising money for HKRAC, all proceeds from the actual race (admission fees etc) will be used to buy artificial limbs for Cambodian children who have been injured by land mines, and those with HIV/AIDS. Please do support us in what we believe are two very worthy causes, and if anything, to see some pretty ridiculous pictures at the end of the race. Please also note that GS will match contributions to HKRAC - even more reason to donate. For more information on the organization and the actual race, please see below.
