BENEFITING: TRAVIS MANION FOUNDATION

EVENT: 2012 Warrior Ride Across America

EVENT DATE: Sep 22, 2012

THE STORY:

Former Navy Corpsman 3rd Class, Doc served in Iraq as a platoon medic with the Second Battalion, 1st Marines in Fallujah in 2004. In September of 2004, when he was 21, Doc’s platoon was targeted in a coordinated ambush. As he was running to the aid of two Marines mortally wounded by an IED, Doc was shot 5 times before being hit by a secondary IED that blew off his leg. After tying his own tourniquet, he then proceeded to shout instructions that aided in the treatment of other Marines. Doc now lives in GA with his wife Angel and three daughters and for his service was awarded a Bronze Star for valor and a Purple Heart.

Here is the story:

Twelve (12) riders bicycle 3,200 miles across America from Oceanside, CA to Ground Zero New York, NY in nine (9) days. This event is an extension of the annual MC-LEF / Travis Manion Foundation ride from Washington DC to NYC.

Date: September 22 to September 30, 2012

Goal: To safely ride across America and in the process, raise national level awareness for our foundations. Our financial goal is to raise $1MM. All donations will be split evenly between MC-LEF and the Travis Manion Foundation.

In the spirit of the Fallen, we will foster strength of mind and body to create a generation of future leaders.
  • The Marine Corps - Law Enforcement Foundation (MC-LEF) mission is to encourage the spiritual, moral, intellectual and physical development of children through education. This Foundation was formed in February of 1995 by former Marines and law enforcement personnel who strongly believe that our nation's most precious resource is its youth.
