BENEFITING: SUNNY SKYS ANIMAL RESCUE
Did you see the news report? Sunny Sky's animal shelter needs a new home. They've helped find homes for over 2000 pets in the past couple years - now let's help them find a new home. Here's a link to the story: http://www.king5.com/news/pets-and-animals/Puyallup-animal-shelter-in-danger-of-closing-due-to-tax-bill-201721741.html
In a painful turn around, they thought that as a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit, they were exempt from property tax. They got a legal opinion to that effect. Then the decision was reversed because there is also a for-profit veterinary hospital co-located in the building. Suddenly they're in arrears and building is up for sale and they will have to leave as soon as it sells.
We NEED the big hearts and tender care that Sunny Sky's provides, or innocent little pets may face getting euthanized. After being rescued once, we just can't let them face that fate again. Let's stand behind the promise we make to the pets we love, to take care of them and honor them for the boundless and innocent love they give us.
A couple things you can do: 1) Adopt your next pet from Sunny Sky's (and give a little extra to them when you do); 2) Or just donate If you don't need a new pet right now - help them get out of their old building and into a new home. You'll be saving lives!
Why do I care? Because I used to rescue dogs. Here's one of many stories: I once sprung an injured border collie from a big shelter (not Sunny Sky's) to help foster and nurse her back to heath and find her a home. She had been hit by a car and abandoned by her owners when they saw the estimate for her care: $2,500. So she languished in this big shelter for 5 days, unable to walk and lying in her own blood and wastes because no one wanted to adopt a hurt dog that was going to cost them a bundle. I took her to my vet, Dr. Burton, who you can see in the news report about Sunny Sky's. She gave me an amazing discount and helped me bring "Lucy" back from the brink. Lucy was the sweetest, happiest, brightest dog you could ever imagine! The world would have been a poorer place to have lost her so soon. She had ten more joyful years in a perfect, loving home.
All the pets in Sunny Sky's deserve their chance. Help them with a gift in memory of Lucy, or in memory of a beloved pet you have owned, and I will send you the picture and story of Lucy or another of my rescues that was helped by Dr. Burton.
