Dogs Playing for Life™ was founded in response to an overwhelming problem: care-takers desperate to do right by their shelter dogs, too many of which were unnecessarily losing their lives due to behavioral concerns in stressful confines. Now, after working with over 150 shelters in the United States and Canada, Dogs Playing for Life™ is leading an industry-wide shift to incorporate daily play groups and adequate enrichment as a standard of care. We recognize that life-saving and well-being must go hand in hand as we evolve as humane organizations.
Although the concept of providing play groups to unknown dogs in adverse conditions was originally met with concerns surrounding risk, one hundred percent of shelters participating in a DPFL follow-up survey reported that the benefits of group play outweigh the risks. Incredibly, every shelter incorporating learned DPFL programming reports an increased quality of life for their dogs! Enhanced well-being logically correlates with the majority also reporting safer kennels and increased live-saving. DPFL programming is now proven to be beneficial for both the dogs and the people tirelessly caring for them in shelters all around the country.
DPFL has served organizations of all sizes, functions and missions uniquely; we must expand to serve them most comprehensively. The demand for DPFL seminars is increasing while shelters we have already mentored are eager for next-level and follow-up training. Unfortunately, seminar requests are currently met with a six to twelve-month wait-list due to limited sponsorship opportunities and DPFL’s lack of resources for team expansion. DPFL’s measured, results-oriented programming is facing a tremendous supply-demand issue and is in critical need of your support!
