At Dogtown Crossfit, we are a community. A community that our coaches have built to embrace the strengths, weaknesses, goals, and life experiences of each member. Within this community, many of our lives have been touched by cancer due to the loss of loved ones, the experience of watching loved ones battle cancer, and for some personal battles against the disease itself.
Cancer is a griveous illness in various forms, that has yet to have the medical and technological advancements available to properly pre-screen for some of these forms and treat the diseases once identified. Pancreatic cancer, the 4th most common death from cancer, has poor prognosis because there simply isn't any pre-screening for the disease due to it's lack of symptoms.
A couple years ago, I used to be a biochemist working in a lab to provide formulations for possible treatments for grevious illnesses. While I have transitioned my efforts to scientifically and globally educating our disadvantaged urban youth, I still want to do my part in contributing to conquering grevious illnesses in the medical research arena. There are far too many people in my life that are being devastatingly affected by cancer, and we can relieve this with the developement of better diagnostics and treatments.
As Dogtown Crossfit has said, "It is time to crush cancer." Please help me stand up to cancer. Stand with us.
