When I heard that Dogtown Crossfit was having this Stand Up to Cancer fundraiser, I was ecstatic. Why? Because when I work with oncology patients at the hospital, I think about what more I could do. Cancer is cold-hearted unrelenting beast that will make you suffer for every waking moment of a person's life. I have the seen what most people don't want to see. I have made new friendships with patients only to see them move on to a better place months later. It's an emotional ride whenever I work, but I see inspiration from these folks. I see patients who fight for every waking moment. I see patients who fight to see their grandchildren one last time. I see patients who fight so that they can stare at life and say "You hit like a bitch". These patients have given me a new outlook on life. To go out and live.
For these patients, I will stand up to cancer. I will stand and fight and do everything in my power to give back to this community for the inspiration they have given me. To you my friends, I only ask that you donate a little bit. There are many of you, and as a collective group, we can make a huge impact. The money for your coffee, your take out dinner you probably shouldnt be eating, your bagel with cream cheese in the morning. It's not much, but it will go a long way. Thank you all for your generosity.
