In 2003, my mom, Diane, was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. She was such a strong and positive woman - I thought for sure she would make it through and be here today talking about how she was a survivor. Unfortunately things did not work out that way and in October of 2004, she lost her battle.
There is no reliable test to detect ovarian cancer, but there are signs and symptoms. Creating awareness of these early warning signs is fundamental to detecting ovarian cancer in the early stages. When ovarian cancer is caught early, it is highly curable. However, only 20% of ovarian cancer is detected early.
I have formed a team for the "Run Like a Girl" event on June 5, 2016 to support the HERA Women's Cancer Foundation, who expands research and promotes education and awareness in an effort to eliminate ovarian cancer. For those of you who would like to participate, please sign up to join my team (Doing It For Di). If you cannot participate but would like to support the cause, we would love for you to donate.
In any case, lets support this great cause to help save lives. Help me raise money and awareness of a disease that took my mom and many other women too early - lets DO IT FOR DI.
