Everyone has been asking to send cards and gifts to help me get through my fight against cancer and the numerous surgeries I will be going through this summer... Instead I ask that you donate whatever you can to this fundraiser! My family and I have set up a tribute page to raise funds & awareness for the Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen) AND Stupid Cancer. In lieu of flowers or other gifts, we ask that you make a donation be made to TGen thru this website.
For EVERY donation made Jayna and Scott Martin will MATCH your donation with half of the money going to TGen and half of the money going to Stupid Cancer. For example, if you give $100 Mr. & Mrs. Martin will give $50 to TGen and $50 to Stupid Cancer.
HELP THE FIGHT --- GIVE & GET!
The Martin Family will match all donations dollar for dollar (50% going to Tgen and 50% going to stupid cancer)!!
Give $25 & get a chance at a basket of cancer fighting snacks!
Give $50 & get a chance at a free r/t flight on southwest air to Phoenix!
Give $100 & get a chance to stay for a week at Hotel Valley Ho! AND ...
You can pick the week!!
(Waste Management tourney? Barrett Jackson week? Bike week? Spring Training?)
The more you give, the better your chances of winning prizes & all the funds go to the FIGHT AGAINST CANCER
A little bit about TGen and Stupid Cancer (more to come on this):
Our family had the honor of being given a luncheon & tour with an amazing group of doctors at the TGen facility. Translational genomics is the new science that is already making its way to find the genetic cancer mutation in an individual tumors, then finding what will stop that mutation or even reverse the action. The lab sends that information directly to the patients bedside for personalized treatment options. I will be not only for raising money for their incredible efforts in the fight to cure cancer but will actually be interning at TGen for the next academic school year.
Young adults, a largely unknown group in the war on cancer, account for 72,000 new diagnosis each year. That's one every eight minutes. It's also seven times more all than pediatric cancers. The OMG! Cancer Summit is the premiere oncology conference and social networking event for the young adult cancer movement. The Martin family also had the chance to attend this inspiring conference. A program of the Stupid Cancer, the OMG! Cancer Summit is where we discovered TGen among many other beneficial resources. This conference has become a pivotal healthcare event that brings together thousands of survivors, cargivers and providers—along with scores of academic, advocacy, research and support organizations—to build community and unite as one to drive change!
