Dollars for Dictionaries: Claremont Forum Prison Library Project (PLP) Summer Drive

The Claremont Forum's Photo

BENEFITING: The Claremont Forum

THE STORY:

The Claremont Forum Prison Library Project is the only nationwide prison library project in America. We receive, on average, 200 letters per week from incarcerated individuals from all over the country requesting books to assist them in self-development while behind bars. Each week, the most requested book is the dictionary.

While many of the requests we receive are for fiction and non-fiction books that we can fulfill through our Claremont Forum Used Bookstore, the requests for dictionaries are so numerous, we must purchase them ourselves to maintain our stock and assure all requests are granted.

Hence, our Dollars for Dictionaries Drive this summer!

Oh, and PS, the Claremont Forum Used Bookstore Prison Library Project not only assists our fellow citizens behind bars, it also provides the focal point for a vibrant community service program where volunteers from local schools, local colleges, local businesses, and local retirement communities engage with one another as they fill orders and sort books.

At the Claremont Forum Prison Library Project, we LOVE cultivating COMMUNITY locally and beyond.
