THE STORY:

Bianca, Jezebel, Scamp, Stardust, and Zorro are the five donkeys of the Winslow Farm Animal Sanctuary in Norton, Massachusetts. Stardust came to Winslow Farm after he suffered extreme neglect and physical abuse, while the other four donkeys needed more attention and care. Winslow Farm is a stay-for-life animal sanctuary that provides rehabilitation services and care to abandoned, abused, or mistreated animals.

Run completely off of donations and volunteer work, it is difficult to make repairs on the property when it is needed, especially after paying medical bills and buying immediate supplies, like food. After the cold, snowy past winter, the donkey barn was damaged and in anticipation of the coming winter, it needs repair now.

If the donkey barn is not completed, the donkeys will need to share a shelter with the horses. This will create problems at feeding time and it will also lower the quality of life for the animals. With your support, we can help Winslow Farm to afford the building materials necessary to fully repair the donkey barn before winter.

History of the Donkey Barn

President and founder, Debra White dedicates her life to the 200+ animals on the farm and also to the maintenance of the property that has been in her family for over 100 years. Each new building on the property has been designed by White and built on donations and volunteer work.

The property of Winslow Farm has been in the White family for four generations, serving different purposes over the years. One building that has remained standing from the original property is the 100-year-old donkey barn. Originally used by White’s grandfather, it was his workshop in which he made jewelry for Balfour Jeweler Company. Over the years, the workshop became a chicken house, and then became a horse barn when White was 10 years old. Inevitably, White discovered her love for animals and began to appreciate her heritage and the work that was put into this property. Her father inherited the property, yet he was very ill, resulting in the loss of the entire property. White made it her life mission to buy the land back to honor her father and grandfather, as well as to fulfill her dreams of helping animals she grew to love so much.
