BENEFITING: The Dollicia F. Holloway Memorial Foundation Inc
EVENT DATE: Sep 28, 2016
The Dollicia F. Holloway Memorial Foundation is an IRS recognized 501(c)(3) not for profit organization which provides advocacy, supportive, financial services and referrals for temporary housing to “at risk” women and children of domestic violence. Our mission through our Domestic Violence Advocacy Group, is to PREVENT and END Domestic Violence and bring awareness through advocacy and intervention to our communities and hold every offender accountable.
Our goal is to assist each domestic violence victims and survivors on becoming positive in their thinking, becoming self-sufficient in every area of life and guiding them down the path to success.
1 in 4 women report experiencing domestic violence in their lifetimes.
Financial security is the number one predictor of whether or not a victim of domestic violence will get free and stay free from abuse.
Domestic violence and financial abuse often go hand-in-hand, but 8 in 10 Americans have not heard about financial abuse as a form of domestic violence. The number one reason domestic violence survivors stay, leave or return to an abusive relationship is that they don’t have the financial resources to break free.
The mission for the Dollicia F. Holloway Memorial Foundation is committed to servicing men, women and children by bringing awareness to the community and providing informational, educational and financial resources to survivors of domestic violence, hearing impaired adults and the youth of today to empower, encourage and equip so they may overcome and obtain a better quality of life.
We encourage others to see domestic violence for what it really is and what it really isn't, as well as encourage others in our surrounding communities to support domestic violence awareness, by lending support and assistance to those who have been victimized, those who are survivors and their families.
Our plight is to create social change, which will eventually lead to the eradication of domestic violence.
Founders Keith H . Burgess and Altanya Gerald-Burgess, along with our DFHMF team and community partners are extremely passionate about promoting healthy relationships by reaching out to children, teens and adults. Through our partnership with the Allstate Foundation and with the Purple Purse Challenge, we are looking for a facility to offer a variety of free programs, focused on educating, enabling, equipping and empowering women, men and children, as well as the communities we serve with topics such as financial literacy, self-motivation, both naturally and spiritually.
In addition to our "Heels That Heal' project, The Dollicia F. Holloway Memorial Foundation looks to offer safe dating workshops for teens, " "How I Can Be A Superhero" workshops for children and a variety of support groups for women. We partner with other organizations whose goals are to aspire to inspire, to educate and to motivate.
Your participation in the Allstate Purple Purse Challenge is greatly appreciated and much needed for change, development and financial empowerment within our families and communities. The program ignites fundraising for more than 140 national, state and local domestic violence organizations. Funds raised will support life-changing financial empowerment services to help domestic violence survivors build safer lives for themselves and their families.
If you want to go one step further, click on "Fundraise For This Campaign." In seconds, you'll have your own fundraiser which you can share with all of your family, friends and community, so that you can raise money for the cause, too.
Donations can be made through this fundraiser from September 28 to October 25, 2016.
