Domestic Missions/Life Church/ Craig Avery
Organized by: Craig Avery
A little over three years ago (December 2010) Craig Avery and his family felt the call to Beatrice, Nebraska to plant a church, having been asked by their denomination to do so. So, they answered that call. Craig's wife (Angel...yes she is an angel) put in her resignation from her job as a teacher and began the Nebraska job search. Craig, whose job in nuclear power plants takes him on the road often, began to search for options to work without traveling.
In July of 2011 the Avery family was launched from their home church in Florida (Crystal River Church of God). Packing up their home and leaving behind their church home, family and friends, they set out on this new adventure that God had called them to.
Craig was not immediately able to quit his job and continued to travel for a while and Angel began her job as a teacher in Beatrice.
Upon arriving in Beatrice, Life Church consisted of Craig, his wife Angel and their two boys Jeremiah and Israel. After much prayer they developed a mission statement for the church, "to help people establish and develop a relationship with Christ beyond religion."
Despite the necessity of travel requirements of his job Craig and Angel both began to get to know people in the community and develop relationships. Soon thereafter, they had one family join them and Life Church was on it's way.
As they continued to develop relationships and research their new home, what they discovered burdened their hearts deeply. Beatrice, Nebraska is the County seat of Gage County. Gage County has one of the highest suicide rates in the nation and the need of the hope of Christ is truly great. In Gage County (as in most of Nebraska), there is a lot of religion, but very little understanding of a true relationship with Christ. They Avery family seeks to change all that through obedience to the call to know Christ and make Him known.
Setting out to do so has cost them personally, spiritually, financially, mentally, emotionally, and physically. Yet, they are committed to the call and the community. They have seen people come to know Christ and/or rededicate their lives and today, Life Church consists of 6-7 families growing in their walk with Christ.
This is where you come in. Craig is currently working near home, and is more than willing to do so. However, his current job assignment is temporary and ends at the end of November 2014. He can travel out of town for the next assignment, but is believing God to not have to. Also, Life Church is currently meeting in the local YMCA and pays a very small fee to due so. However they will very soon need a larger meeting place of their own. With this comes the need for chairs, sound system, rent, office equipment, childrens supplies, etc. The Avery family asks first for your prayers, and second, to consider a financial contribution to domestic missions. When you give, not only are you giving to a ministry that is already seeing fruit, your donations are also tax deductible. Life Church is part of the Church of God (Cleveland, TN) denomination and is 501 (c)3. All money raised will be wisely stewarded and financial accountability is in place.
Thank you for your contribution to the work of The Kingdom.
May God bless you abundantly.
